The Texas Stars went 2-0-1-0 over the past week. The Stars have won nine of their last 13 games (9-2-2-0) and are now 12-8-2-1 on the season. Through Monday, they sit in sixth place in the AHL’s Western Conference and in third place in the South Division.

Wednesday December 5, Texas at Milwaukee: Stars 2, Admirals 1 (OT)

The Stars wrapped up a six-game road trip with a 2-1 overtime win in Milwaukee on Wednesday. The Stars, who won five of six on the trip (5-1-0-0), surrendered the first goal in each of the six games, but were able to still pick up 10 of a possible 12 points.

On Wednesday, the Stars trailed 1-0 after two periods, but Cody Eakin’s power play goal with 6:25 remaining in the third tied it and then Colton Sceviour won the game with a goal 1:56 into overtime.

Cristopher Nilstorp stopped 24 of 25 shots in goal.

Friday December 7, Houston at Texas: Aeros 2, Stars 1 (OT)

The Stars returned home from their road trip to take on the Houston Aeros at Cedar Park Center Friday night. The Stars fell behind 1-0 in the first period, and the score stayed that way until late in the third, when Brenden Dillon’s goal with 6:36 remaining tied the game at 1-1.

The Stars couldn’t get the extra point this time, as Houston’s Jason Zucker scored 3:07 into overtime to give the Aeros a 2-1 victory.

“It’s good to get the point,” said Texas coach Willie Desjardins. “Houston is a good team. It’s always tough to come off the road and play well. I thought we played a real good game. We had chances to win. But Houston is just a good team.”

Nilstorp stopped 18 of 20 shots for the Stars.

Saturday December 8, Peoria at Texas: Stars 4, Rivermen 1

The Stars and Rivermen played a physical, hard-hitting contest that featured three fights in the first six minutes of the game.

Peoria scored first, but 36 seconds later Reilly Smith scored to tie the game at 1-1. Matt Fraser scored twice in the second period to give Texas a 3-1 lead, and then Smith added his second goal of the night in the third period to make it a 4-1 final.

“They tried to play a physical game and take over the game that way. We had a lot of guys that really stood up and really turned the game around for us,” said Smith. “I think that really was the catalyst in us turning the game around early.”

Nilstorp, who overcame a spear by Peoria’s Anthony Peluso late in the second period, stopped 23 of 24 shots for Texas.
